McQueen & The Sewin’ Machine

“You can find a lot of reasonable buys at Wal-Mart. But one key to making it on a budget is by donating your time and labor to the project. Do-it-yourself projects will always help you save.” – Nate Berkus

The biggest challenge facing me when shopping is having an idea of what I want but not finding it anywhere. I envision clothes that are not always on “trend” or simply don’t exist. Sometimes it can be frustrating. Other times it drives me to pull out the sewing machine and unleash the inner Alexander McQueen.

Recently, I found a military camouflage jacket at a local thrift store and wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with it or how to wear it. After careful consideration, I decided to turn it into a vest. To start the process, I googled information and found a couple Youtube videos.

The pictures that follow are of my creation and styling.
